Gasthof Hirschen in St. Peter im Schwarzwald

I stopped by for lunch during the drive. An inn and restaurant facing the square with the church. It was a German-style restaurant with a cute, light and clean feeling. The food was very good. I chose the shaded seats on the terrace outside because the sunlight was strong, but it was crowded even though it was a weekday. There seemed to be no one in the seat inside. There was another restaurant in the same square, and there were more people there. The menu was very standard.

Very good food

In itself a very cozy and inviting restaurant. However, we were very disappointed after our visit. Four of us came to eat; three of us ordered rump steak, which was advertised on the menu with fries and herb butter as a side dish. When the meal came, however, a brown sauce was spread over the steak. Because one of our friends is not pork, we asked if there was any pork in the sauce. The waitress said yes. We asked if this one steak could be made again because no pork was wanted. The new steak was about 30 seconds later at the table. Here it is of course obvious that the meat was only washed off, since no new steak could have been prepared in the short time. This in itself is outrageous, especially since our friend also declared that he would not eat pork for religious reasons. However, the waitress also brought the new steak to the table with the snotty saying that the information not to eat pork should always be given at the beginning when eating. This is of course nonsense at this point, since according to the menu the dish was obviously prepared without pork. At this point, such a comment is inappropriate, the unfriendly tone did the rest. From then on, the waitress was also politely reserved towards us. In addition, after dinner, although we were obviously still having a rainy conversation and everyone still had wine in our glasses, we were asked if we would like to pay, as the waitress was now off and someone else would take over our table. Very inappropriate! All four of us are restaurateurs ourselves and have never experienced such behavior. Here the service should be reconsidered. Pity!

The service was very friendly, the food was delicious, large portion, simple good home cooking.

We were there for dinner. It was very kid friendly and the food was good.

We treated ourselves to a piece of Black Forest cake with coffee there, unfortunately under the attack of wasps. The service was friendly, waiting times a little long. The corona ordinance was complied with.

Food and prices are completely ok, but deduction of stars because of the service! Were there for dinner with four people. Including my mother-in-law, at the age of 84. She didn't want to eat a lot and so greasy. There are no senior plates on the menu, but children's plates! She then ordered a children's plate. The waitress said: "Don't start discussing, this is normally not possible, it takes too long. Children's dishes are subsidized and are not for adults" !! The sound makes the music! There are many restaurants that offer normal dishes as senior plates or you can switch to children's plates. You should think about it at Gasthof Zum Hirschen and also train the staff on how to deal with guests!

Were eating there today Service was very unfriendly that is just unprofessional I never have to have again.

Centrally located rustic eatery with a terrace facing the street. Therefore, unfortunately, a lot of traffic noise, especially from the numerous motorcyclists. The service was friendly, coffee and cake very tasty! Without the noise, two stars would have been better!

Very tasty food, good prices, wonderful to sit outside

This place was so good that we went a second time on the same trip. I strongly recommend the schnitzel but I am sure they will have plenty of other delicious things. I want to underline also that the staff was very friendly so, despite of their lack of English, we managed to perfectly communicate without any problem. The nice detail: they bring you a small typical salad as courtesy. I do not know for other people, but these details they still get me (and you won't be feeling like if it was charged somewhere else).

Best house in the area, you are always welcome and the food is always great.

Pretty place, pleasant typical restaurant for a gourmet break

Terrible inn, the service is incredibly rude and incapable of accepting justified criticism (e.g. of the heavily drunk staff). Unfortunately, there is no 0 star rating. Cheeky and disproportionate!

Very good cuisine in beautiful St Peter. Have eaten a very delicious cheesecake on the beautiful terrace by the monastery.

We were on a bike tour and wanted to eat a delicious first rhubarb cake. Unfortunately it tasted like something, but not like rhubarb, in fact we had to throw it away because we found it so inedible. Shame ... the coffee was good ...

Great vacation. Perfect room. Hotel staff is wonderfull. Great value, for a pleasdant vacation in the beautiful Black forrest.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL SUPER UNPROFFESIONAL NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SUPER RUDE PEOPLE

Stopped on the square for lunch and had one of the vegetarian options from the menu. Food was bland, over salty, reheated, not worth the high price 16 euro. Given an English menu at first which had no prices and only a selection of everything on the German menu wow!

Traditional hotel. Authentic decoration. Very tasty food. Recommended.

Very comfy and affordable place

We were there for coffee and cake and I highly recommend this place. We had home-made apple strudel with vanilla ice cream and cream. A hot chocolate. This was made with real milk and delicious cocoa powder that was not too sweet. The menu also looked very good. It gave me the impression that it is a family run of the old kind. I can only pass on my recommendation 👍👌✌️

Shared a lunch with friends here after a rather lengthy hike. Service and food was good.

Despite the location we do not recommend Positive 1. The hotel loaction in the forest and wehad nice view of Schwrzwald. 2. The rooms were clean and tidy. Each morning the service staff reorder and clean them. Negative 1. The staff was not warm and welcoming. 2. During our stay, most of the time was lack of space in the parking lot, one night I was asked to park outside the hotel parking lot !!! in a parking place requiring payment. Of course that I didn't agree. 3. We booked two rooms for our family and we expected to get rooms close to each other, instead we got 2 rooms at the 2 sides of the floor 4. During the breakfast a lot of food was missing and we had all the time to ask to bring bread , milk, cheese , even water . 5. The wifi was so bad, the method of connection required a user name and password for each device and it was quite disturbing and annoying, the wifi reception in our room at tne 2nd floor was very weak. 6. No Red Card

Great location and history. Wonderful, hearty food.

The room was spacious and clean, and we enjoyed a good breakfast in the morning.
